Forecasters clamoring
Weather maps screaming
Nor’easter, wet heavy snow, it’s a big one
Teachers gathering
Thumbs tapping
Eight inches, twelve, when
Students exploding
Feet dancing
No school, play, no school, play
Drivers hunkering
Gas tanks filling
Long commute, icy roads, home
Road crews rigging
Plows raising
Salting, preparing, long day
Birds chittering
Feeders emptying
Eat, nest, flee
People pausing
Eyes skyward, wondering
It’s March, right? So, what the heck?
Oh snow day, what you bring, if you even
Become.
Be safe
I like the flow of your narration. And I noticed how you crafted with participles at the end of the first two lines of each stanza. Nice! It puts a lot of action into the poem — everyone is busy preparing for the storm.

The poem kind of directed me as I wrote it. Funny how that happens. Thank you!

This was so fun to read! We had one snow day this year and it was a very hightly anticipated one. School was called off the night before, which doesn’t happen often. AND it was a Friday.

We got the call on Tuesday afternoon for our Wednesday snow day. Teachers were chittering all day! Now I sit here with no power and have already received the call about tomorrow. Another snow day! Crazy March weather!!!
